Yas Marina Circuit is about 60 to 75 minutes from south Dubai by car in normal traffic, and longer on race days. Getting there is easy by car, taxi, bus or train. Getting back is the hard part. The last train to Dubai leaves Abu Dhabi before the Sunday race starts, and taxis are scarce right after the podium. Plan your return trip first: stay for the concert and leave late, walk to the Yas Mall taxi ranks, or pre book a driver with a fixed pickup time.
Thousands of F1 fans stay in Dubai Marina, JBR or Downtown and travel to Yas Island each day of race weekend. This guide compares every way to make that trip for the 2026 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with a race day timeline, the new Etihad Rail option, and a clear plan for getting home.
When Is the 2026 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?
Formula 1 has confirmed the 2026 event at Yas Marina Circuit from 3 to 6 December 2026, with the wider entertainment programme starting on 2 December.
- Thursday 3 December: opening day activities and fan zones.
- Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December: Formula 1 track sessions.
- Sunday 6 December: the race starts at 5pm UAE time, around sunset.
Check exact session times in the official Abu Dhabi GP app. Your tickets are digital and can only be opened in that app, so set it up before you leave Dubai.
Which Is the Best Way to Get From Dubai to Yas Marina Circuit?
| Your situation | Best option | Getting home |
|---|---|---|
| Solo, tight budget, flexible time | Intercity bus plus Abu Dhabi city bus | Possible, but slow and late |
| Practice day, light bag, home before evening | Etihad Rail plus free shuttle | Train only works if you leave before the last departure |
| You have a car | Drive and park at Yas Mall | Easy, but expect queues leaving the car park |
| Two to four people, one day | Taxi or ride hailing app | Hard to find a car right after the race |
| Family, group or multi day ticket | Pre booked chauffeur | Guaranteed pickup at an agreed time |
Option 1: Drive From Dubai and Park at Yas Mall
Route: Take Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) south past Jebel Ali and Ghantoot, or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). The E11 takes about 60 to 75 minutes in normal traffic.
Tolls:
- Salik (Dubai): Dh6 from 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm, and Dh4 from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am. The E311 has no Salik gates.
- Darb (Abu Dhabi): The Ghantoot gate on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street charges AED 4 per crossing, 24 hours a day, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street is the free alternative. Dubai plated cars also need a Darb account, because Salik tags do not work in Abu Dhabi.
Parking: General fans park at Yas Mall, and parking at the circuit is limited to pass holders. In past editions, the shuttle pickup was at the Tryano entrance of Yas Mall, with service from 9:30am until 1am. Is Yas Mall parking free in 2026? Reports differ, so check the parking section in the Abu Dhabi GP app before you drive.
Option 2: Etihad Rail, Then the Free Shuttle
- Dubai to Abu Dhabi by train. Trains leave Al Yalayis Station in Jumeirah Golf Estates, linked to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line by a 400 metre walkway. The trip takes about 64 minutes, with fares from AED 39 in Comfort and AED 109 in Premium.
- MBZ City Station to Yas Mall. The Yas Express ER1 route connects the Abu Dhabi station with Yas Mall’s north entrance.
- Yas Mall to your grandstand by free circuit shuttle.
Check the return train for your date. At launch, there were five trains a day, the first at 6:14am and the last at 6:14pm from Dubai, and the last train back from Abu Dhabi left at 5:43pm. If that timetable still applies on 3 to 6 December, the train cannot bring you home after the Sunday race. Confirm the schedule for your exact date in the Etihad Rail app before you plan around it.
Option 3: Bus From Dubai
- Step 1: RTA E101 from Ibn Battuta Bus Station or E100 from Al Ghubaiba to Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station, for AED 25.
- Step 2: Abu Dhabi city bus to Yas Island. Routes change, so check the Darbi app on the day. City buses use an Abu Dhabi Hafilat card, not a Dubai Nol card.
- Step 3: Free circuit shuttle from Yas Mall to your gate.
Allow two to three hours each way.
What about Yas Express from Dubai? Yas Express runs free routes from Dubai to Yas Island, but in 2026 these are for visitors with pre purchased theme park tickets or guests of Yas Island hotels. A race ticket alone may not qualify, so confirm before you rely on it.
Option 4: Taxi or Ride Hailing App
| From | Approx. road distance | Basic meter estimate, one way |
|---|---|---|
| Ibn Battuta / Jebel Ali | About 80 km | About AED 200 |
| Dubai Marina / JBR | About 85 to 90 km | About AED 210 to 230 |
| Downtown Dubai | About 110 km | About AED 270 to 290 |
How we calculated these: AED 5 street hail start plus approximate road km × AED 2.45, the current Dubai taxi rate. Not included: Salik, the Darb gate, waiting in event traffic, and higher app prices on race weekend, which often land around AED 200 to 300 each way.
Where you get dropped: Taxis and ride hailing cars cannot use the circuit gates and are sent to designated drop off hubs. Check the current locations in the app on the day.
Getting home: Taxis thin out badly after the podium. Many fans stay for the concert and travel around midnight, or walk to Yas Mall and use the taxi ranks there.
Option 5: Private Chauffeur From Dubai
The main value of a chauffeur on race day is the guaranteed ride home, at a time you choose, when taxis are scarce.
How a race day booking works with us
- You tell us your Dubai pickup address, which days you are attending, your group size, and whether you are staying for the concert.
- We send a fixed quote for the full day, including fuel and tolls.
- On the day, your chauffeur collects you and drops you at the nearest permitted drop off zone shown in the Abu Dhabi GP app.
- Before you go in, you agree a pickup point and a rough exit time with your driver, and you have the driver’s phone number.
- After the race or concert, you message your driver when you are walking out, and meet at the agreed point.
Vehicles for an F1 day
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Listed 10 hour rate (Dubai) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lexus ES300 Hybrid | Up to 3 | 2 bags | AED 800 |
| BMW 5 Series | Up to 3 | 2 bags | AED 1,000 |
| GMC Yukon | Up to 7 | 5 bags | AED 1,400 |
| Mercedes Benz Viano V 250 | Up to 7 | 6 bags | AED 1,400 |
| Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van | 18 to 20 | 12 bags | AED 2,200 |
Listed rate vs race day quote: The prices above are our standard 10 hour Dubai rates from the fleet page. A race day in Abu Dhabi involves long waits, event traffic and a late return, so your F1 quote depends on your pickup point, total hours and return time. You will get the exact figure before you book. See our Abu Dhabi chauffeur service.
Taxi vs chauffeur for a group of four from the Marina
| Two taxis, return | One chauffeur van | |
|---|---|---|
| Estimated cost | About AED 840 to 920 (four one way trips), plus tolls and waiting | Fixed quote |
| Ride home | Depends on finding two cars after the race | Guaranteed pickup |
| Together | Split across two cars | One vehicle |
For one or two people on a budget, a taxi or bus costs less. For families, groups and multi day tickets, a fixed price van with a guaranteed return often makes more sense.

Race Day Timeline From Dubai (Sunday)
These timings are planning estimates, not guarantees. Check session times and gate opening in the app.
| Time (estimate) | What to do |
|---|---|
| 11am to 12pm | Leave Dubai Marina or JBR. Leave earlier from Downtown or Deira. |
| 1pm to 2pm | Arrive at Yas Mall or your drop off zone. Allow time for the shuttle and gate. |
| 2pm to 5pm | Explore the fan zones and find your seat. |
| 5pm | Race starts. |
| About 7pm | Race ends. This is the busiest exit time. |
| 6pm onwards | Etihad Park gates open for the after race concert. |
| 11pm to midnight | Leave Yas Island after the concert, when traffic has eased. |
| After 1am | Salik on the Dubai side is free from 1am to 6am. |
How Do You Get Back to Dubai After the Race?
- Stay for the concert. Ticket holders can access the after race concerts at Etihad Park on the days their tickets are valid, using the separate concert entry shown in the app. General admission is first come, first served. Walk there through the North Oasis entry gate, or use the free circuit shuttles.
- Walk to Yas Mall and use the taxi ranks there, rather than waiting at the circuit gates.
- Meet your pre booked driver at the agreed pickup point.
Planning Four Days From Dubai
| Day | What is on | Transport tip |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday 3 December | Opening activities, fan zones | Lighter crowds, a good day to try the train and shuttle |
| Friday 4 December | F1 practice | Leave before the afternoon rush on the E11 |
| Saturday 5 December | Qualifying | Heavier traffic all day |
| Sunday 6 December | Race at 5pm, then concert | Book your ride home before the day |
Ticket benefits differ by ticket type. Currently only 4 day tickets include a day at one Yas Island theme park or teamLab Phenomena, plus Louvre Abu Dhabi and Qasr Al Watan, and 1 day and 2 day tickets are excluded. If you hold a 4 day ticket, a morning visit fits well with our Dubai to Louvre Abu Dhabi transfer or Ferrari World transfer. Groups planning several days can see our special event chauffeur service.
